Joy Herbs Tea Tree Essential Oil Uses
For hundreds of years, tea tree oil has been used to treat wounds. Aboriginals in Australia have traditionally crushed the tree’s leaves and applied them to cuts and infected areas of skin.
During WWII, Australian troops used tea tree oil to repel insects and soothe wounds. Since then, it has been discovered that tea tree essential oil contains terpenoids, which have been shown to have antiseptic properties.
Tea tree oil is frequently used as a natural alternative to conventional shampoos. Chemicals from our hair products can accumulate around the roots over time, causing problems such as dandruff.
A small amount of diluted tea tree oil can help to prevent the buildup of chemicals and dead skin cells around the hair’s roots, allowing it to look and feel healthy.
Tea tree oil is a little too strong to use in a diffuser, but it makes an excellent blending oil when combined with the right companions.
Tea tree essential oil, unsurprisingly, blends well with eucalyptus to produce a potent decongestant. It also goes well with lavender and rosemary essential oils.
